Investigate, research, and respond to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaints. Research and analyze claims, complaints, and related actions to identify issues and support appropriate resolution. Identify potential compliance issues and recommend updates to guidelines, procedures, and controls to minimize organizational risk. Research potential legal issues using established systems of record and available documentation. Request and coordinate information and documentation from other business units to clarify details and resolve cases within mandated timelines and regulatory requirements. Summarize depositions and other legal proceedings and conduct related investigative, statistical, and documentary research. Prepare written legal summaries, analyses, reports, and supporting documentation. Serve as a point of contact for escalated and complex legal situations. Communicate relevant legal matters and potential organizational impacts to attorneys and appropriate stakeholders. Identify opportunities for operational improvement, recommend solutions, and support implementation of process, procedural, or standards-based enhancements. Prepare required and ad hoc industry and regulatory reports, including responses to audit inquiries, in accordance with internal and external requirements. Participate on cross-functional teams and task groups supporting projects and initiatives within the business unit and across the organization. Review and research high-profile customer complaints and other sensitive or confidential matters and responses. Collaborate with training teams to ensure procedural guidelines and requirements are communicated accurately and consistently followed. Basic understanding of state and federal court systems and legal processes. Ability to research and summarize state and federal statutes and regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of operational and regulatory risk controls, concepts, and practices. Working knowledge of applicable financial services regulations, including NCUA rules, regulations, and federal laws. Working knowledge of legal documents such as trusts, powers of attorney, complaints, and demands. Working knowledge of document control and document security practices. Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Advanced organizational, planning, and time-management skills. Strong judgment and demonstrated ability to take initiative and make sound decisions. Experience independently managing multiple priorities while also working effectively in a team environment.
