Position Overview:
As a Legal Assistant at Mitchell Williams, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys in their daily activities, contributing to the smooth functioning of legal operations within our vibrant and inclusive work culture. Your attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will directly impact our Firm's continued success. Job Responsibilities, include but are not limited to: Prepare a variety of supporting legal documents related to the attorneys' area of responsibility. The Assistant is responsible for proofreading and spell checking all documents. Perform a variety of clerical duties. Maintain a log of appointments, activities and reports for attorneys, making arrangements for travel, meetings, etc. as necessary. Transcribe dictation; revise and produce final correspondence. Maintain confidentiality in both assistant's office and attorneys' offices. Responsible for keying in attorney time entries. Responsible for monthly proforma reviews, edits, and forwarding monthly invoices to clients. Photocopy correspondence, legal documents, and other material as required. Open and maintain files for which attorneys are currently primary attorney. Becoming familiar with location of other files with which attorney is involved so that file copies of each document and/or letter can be directed to the appropriate person. Schedule conference rooms for client/office meetings as requested. Provide temporary clerical support for other attorneys when their assistants are absent and assisting with overflow work as necessary. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications The equivalent of a high school education plus two or more years on-the-job legal experience. Excellent spelling and grammatical skills. Proficient in legal research tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems. Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Excellent organizational ability with attention to detail. Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner. Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues in a respectful manner. Capable of maintaining regular attendance. Strong time management, multitasking and prioritization skills. Ability to work independently with limited required direction and guidance on complex projects. Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-offer background and conflicts checks, if required. Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
