This position requires daily communication with Spanish-speaking and English-speaking clients. Therefore, professional fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory and non-negotiable. Prior experience working in immigration law is strongly preferred and will receive priority consideration. This is a full-time, in-person position at our Miami office. There are no remote or hybrid options for this position. We are looking for someone who understands that excellent legal support requires more than completing forms. The right candidate will be detail-oriented, compassionate with clients, comfortable handling confidential information, and capable of managing multiple cases and deadlines in a professional law-firm environment. Responsibilities Assist attorneys with the preparation and management of immigration cases. Prepare immigration forms, applications, petitions, supporting documentation, and filing packages under attorney supervision. Communicate professionally with clients in both English and Spanish. Conduct client follow-ups and assist in obtaining documents, declarations, evidence, and other information required for cases. Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files. Monitor deadlines, appointments, hearings, interviews, biometrics notices, Requests for Evidence, and other case developments. Review incoming USCIS, EOIR, NVC, consular, and other government correspondence and properly route matters for attorney review. Assist with family-based immigration, humanitarian matters, asylum, removal defense, detention matters, waivers, and other immigration cases handled by the firm. Draft routine client correspondence and case-related documents under attorney supervision. Assist attorneys in preparing clients and case files for interviews, hearings, consultations, and other proceedings. Maintain detailed and accurate case notes and records. Communicate with government agencies, courts, clients, and other parties as directed. Protect client confidentiality and sensitive personal information at all times. Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and other members of the legal team as needed.
Qualifications Required:
Full professional fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written. Ability to work full-time and in person at our Miami office. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow procedures and attorney instructions carefully. Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines. Strong computer and document-management skills. Professional demeanor when communicating with clients, attorneys, courts, and government agencies. Ability to work responsibly with confidential and sensitive information. Reliability, professionalism, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred:
Previous experience as an immigration paralegal, immigration legal assistant, or similar position. Familiarity with USCIS and EOIR procedures. Experience preparing immigration forms and supporting documentation. Experience with removal/deportation defense, asylum, family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, or other immigration matters. Experience using immigration case-management software and electronic filing systems. Prior experience working directly with immigrant and Spanish-speaking communities. Important Language Requirement This is a client-facing position in which communication occurs regularly in both English and Spanish. Candidates who are not professionally fluent in both English and Spanish should not apply. The successful candidate must be comfortable speaking with clients, gathering detailed information, writing professional communications, reviewing documents, and assisting with case preparation in either language. Work Location This position requires regular, full-time presence at Moncada Law Firm's Miami office. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
