Job Summary I am seeking a legal assistant/paralegal to take an active role in supporting the firm's civil litigation practice. I need assistance to help streamline case management, conduct legal research, prepare documentation, keep an accurate calendar, and facilitate effective communication with clients. Prior legal experience is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and possesses strong research and writing skills to ensure the delivery of precise and timely legal assistance. Responsibilities Assist attorney with case preparation, including drafting pleadings, settlement agreements, reviewing and summarizing voluminous records, preparing discovery requests and deposition notice and correspondence. Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies across various practice areas such as tort and commercial litigation as well as civil rights defense and other civil litigation Manage and maintain case files using document management systems like NetDocs; ensure all records are accurate, organized, and up-to-date. Entering and billing time and expenses using billing software like TimeSolv Support client communication by scheduling interviews, preparing summaries of client interviews, and handling confidential information with discretion. Review documents for accuracy and completeness; perform proofreading and transcription to ensure clarity and professionalism. Assist with court filings, document review, and procedural law compliance to facilitate smooth litigation processes. Coordinate project management tasks related to multiple cases or legal initiatives while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to deadlines. Experience Legal assistant/paralegal experience in civil litigation preferred. Familiarity with legal support software such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, NetDocs, CoCounsel, Protege and other document management systems. Strong knowledge of procedural law requirements in both state and federal courts. Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed legal research and compile comprehensive reports for attorneys' review. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence. Experience handling confidential information with integrity; strong proofreading and transcription skills are essential. The practice primarily focuses on insurance/personal injury defense, civil rights and government law defense and labor and employment law.
