Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Patrols designated areas of the city to enforce parking laws and ordinances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Issues tickets for parking violations Dispenses information to the general public regarding street directions, private and public facilities, etc. Explains parking regulations to citizens as needed Performs task of school crossing guard on a relief basis Performs various clerical and matron duties as required Performs other duties as assigned by competent authority

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Appointment to the position by the Traffic Investigations Commander Must have working knowledge of the geography of the city and locations of various private and public facilities and the location of streets Must have knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances and laws Must have elementary knowledge of simple mathematics Must be able to deal tactfully and courteously with the public Must be in physical condition to be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions Must be able to prepare and maintain simple records Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with staff, fellow workers, and the general public
