Community Supervision Officer

Job Description

The Community Supervision Officer supervises a caseload of misdemeanor and felony offenders placed on community supervision by the criminal courts of Brazoria County. •Request for official transcripts will be required upon selection for interview. Duties include but are not limited to: monitoring compliance with court-ordered conditions through office and field contacts, conducting assessments, developing case supervision plans and communicating effectively with defendants. This individual must be able to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of department personnel and other criminal justice-related personnel. Starting salary $51,227 based on experience and qualifications. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. This position requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, corrections, counseling, rehabilitative studies, social work, psychology, sociology or a related field conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. One year of experience in full-time casework or counseling and current certification as a community supervision officer is desirable. The required work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with alternating late night of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every other Tuesday or Thursday. Brazoria County is a local government entity that offers competitive salaries with an excellent benefits package, which includes: Government Pension through TCDRS with 7% fixed interest and a county match of 2:1 at retirement; we do not pay into Social Security but instead contribute to a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan as an additional savings for retirement (VOYA).
