Trail Safety Supervisor

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervise Trail Safety team in education and enforcement efforts. Assist Trail Safety Manager with the training of the Trail Safety Team. Conducts community outreach in relation to the Company's commitment to safety. Presents skier education classes to guests and employees. Ski and snowboard in a professional manner, maintaining speed and control and setting an example for employees and guests. Work with Ski Patrol, Risk Management, Security and Guest Services. Coordinates the movement of employees across the mountain with dispatch to assist with emergency response, trail openings and traffic control. Supervise and execute the daily schedule and operational workplans. Write reports on company policy violations. Review collision reports and contact cards for accuracy and completeness. Communicate via two-way radios. Must be able to ski or snowboard with proficiency. Diffuse confrontations with guests and employees. Interview witnesses and record witness statements. Provide a guest experience that exceeds the guest's expectation. Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives. Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures. Work with Security and Dispatch to ensure reporting protocols are followed. Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act. Communicate daily event and operational expectations to employees each day of operations. Develop policies procedures and guidelines to improve the safety and experience for guest who are skiing and riding.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the day to day on hill operations for up to 14 Trail Safety Hosts.
Qualifications:

Experience:
Thorough knowledge ski area operations, Skier Safety Act, Skier Responsibility Code and on hill liability reduction. Experience in Guest Service roll is preferred
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Other Qualifications:
Must be able to ski or snowboard at an advanced level. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher. Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have valid Driver's License.

The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
