Job Description

The City of Pella is seeking an Aquatics Manager to oversee the operations, programming, and staffing of our aquatic facilities. This position plans and manages year-round aquatics programs, oversees pool operations, and leads a team of lifeguards, instructors, and seasonal staff while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and exceptional experience for guests. The Aquatics Manager also oversees facility operations, budgets, concessions, and aquatic program administration. This is an exciting opportunity to help lead the City's aquatics program as we prepare for the opening of our new Indoor Recreation & Aquatics Center in 2027, expanding year-round aquatic opportunities for our community.

Aquatics Manager (PDF) Applications for this position will be accepted until Friday, August 21, 2026. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreational management or a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Iowa for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain Certified Pool Operator certification within 60 days of employment. Ellis and Associates Lifeguard license, Ellis and Associates ILTP Instructor license, Ellis and Associates Program Coordinator, Community First Aid and Safety and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation/AED certifications by date of hire. Food Safety certification. Pre-employment drug testing required. Residency within a 30 mile drive from the worksite, established within 60 days.
