M-F, or deemed as necessary for community coverage Overview Reporting to the President of Holy Cross Village and the Executive Vice President & COO for Holy Cross College, the Director of Safety and Security oversees all security operations 24/7. This role involves planning, implementing, and managing safety protocols, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and fostering a secure and inclusive environment for the dual-campus community. The Director collaborates with law enforcement and campus leadership, leads the Emergency Response Team, and oversees safety training and emergency preparedness. Essential Functions Leadership, Supervision, and Compliance Oversees Campus Safety officers, including hiring, evaluations and scheduling Ensures compliance with Federal, state and local laws, as well as College and Village regulations. Maintains departmental policies, professional conduct, and required certifications. Completes federal and state reporting, including Clergy Act Promotes Professionalism, high standards, and a positive Institutional image Campus Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Responds to and investigates Security System Develops emergency response plans, active shooter drills, and security policies. Leads the Emergency Response Team and coordinates readiness drills. Collaborates with law enforcement and internal teams on safety initiatives Provides safety education and specialized training, including senior living considerations. Engages with the Campus Behavior Team and CARE Team on interventions strategies Operational Management and Facilities Security Oversees parking, traffic control, ad campus access protocols. Manages security systems, key control, and facility access. Ensures vehicle maintenance, lost-and-found operations, and campus flag protocols. Reporting, Communication and Confidentiality Serves as liaison with law enforcement and campus stakeholders Prepares incident reports and maintains records management Develops safety communication and student discipline coordination Manages the department budget and justifies financial needs Maintains confidentiality, adjusts to campus needs, and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related area from an accredited college or university required, masters in preferred. Ten years of college campus or police experience is required, which includes at least three years of supervision, assessments of training needs, staffing, analyzing the effectiveness of policies/procedures within a policing operation, and investigation. Valid Driver's license with a good driving record
