Within the Safety Department at ELMHS Located in Jackson, LA but may be used to fill a vacancy within another department The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as a Safety Risk Agency Director. The selected candidate will coordinate the facility's safety and environmental compliance programs by overseeing regulatory standards, inspections, risk assessments, reporting, workplace safety initiatives, mailroom operations, and ongoing monitoring to protect staff, patients, visitors, and the campus. Six years of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, risk management, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus three years of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, risk management, or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, risk management, or administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus two years of experience in safety inspection or training, emergency preparedness, safety education or promotion, risk management, or administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties:
In this role, you will: Ensure compliance with Joint Commission Environmental of Care and Life Safety Standards, Risk Management Standards, Life Safety Code and all other local, state and federal safety requirements by establishing, coordinating, and monitoring the Safety Program; and by preparing/maintaining reports and maintaining adequate record keeping. Coordinate inspections made by the State Fire Marshal's Office, which consists of assisting with inspecting all buildings and monitoring all violations noted to ensure corrective action. Develop statistics and monthly reporting for various departments (Human Resources (HR), Total Quality Management (TQM), Nursing Administration, Education, and Environment of Care) for illnesses, injuries, fire and smoke alarms and drills. Participate with Workplace Violence Prevention Team to follow-up and further investigate as well as provide support when needed. Direct the mailroom functions for the campus. Develops policies and procedures concerning incoming and outgoing mail. Establish protocols for handling, processing, and distributing mail to maintain facility security and prevent contraband from entering or leaving. Establish a risk assessment program that proactively evaluates the impact on staff, patients, and visitors in relationship to the safety of the buildings and grounds. Conduct quarterly Life Safety/hazard detection tours of work sites, business occupancies, and patient housing units.
