Food Safety & Quality Assurance Supervisor -
Turkey Processing Plant Location:
Marshall, MN Pay Range:
$70,000-$80,000/year About the Role We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our team in a fast-paced turkey processing facility. This position is second-in-command to the FSQA Manager, with the potential to advance into the FSQA Manager role in the future. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of quality assurance experience (food industry preferred) and a minimum of 2 years of proven supervisory experience. The QA Supervisor will provide leadership and direction to the QA team, ensuring compliance with food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Supervise and lead QA Technicians under the direction of the FSQA Manager. Provide training, coaching, and development for all QA personnel. Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, GMP, GFSI/BRCGS, and regulatory requirements. Develop, implement, and improve quality monitoring procedures and specifications. Review and maintain QA records, product grades, and documentation systems. Conduct and/or oversee audits, inspections, and investigations (customer complaints, sanitation, glass/brittle plastic, labels, etc.).
Manage employee performance:
accountability, recognition, evaluations, corrective actions, and staffing decisions in coordination with the QA Manager. Support and participate in food safety inspections, GFSI/BRCGS reviews, and continuous improvement activities (e.g., GEMBA walks). Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies; ensure work schedules and QA checks are completed efficiently. Assist with updating QSM procedures, supplier/ingredient registers, and compliance documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, warehouse, sanitation, leadership) to resolve issues and improve processes. Interact with on site USDA as needed or directed. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in food manufacturing/processing. At least 2 years of verifiable supervisory/leadership experience. Associate degree in a related field (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, GMP, BRCGS, and quality control processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry systems and managing the CAT2 QA Data collection portals and reporting systems. Ability to work independently while fostering teamwork and accountability. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Applicants with bilingual (English/Spanish; English/Somali; English/Karen) skills will be given priority consideration Ability to complete HACCP, BRCGS, and Better Process Control School training upon hire (if not already certified).
