Safety Manager Plaas Incorporated | Red Wing, MN About Plaas Incorporated Plaas Incorporated is a Red Wing, Minnesota-based industrial mechanical contractor with more than 50 years of experience. Our projects take us throughout the Midwest, and safety is a critical part of how we operate. We are looking for a Safety Manager to manage our company safety program and support safe operations across our projects. This is a hands-on position with regular travel to Plaas job sites throughout the Midwest. What You'll Do Manage and maintain Plaas's safety and health programs, policies, and procedures. Visit job sites throughout the Midwest to conduct safety inspections, audits, and observations. Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions. Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and project safety planning. Monitor PPE use and other site safety requirements. Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and occupational illnesses. Conduct or coordinate incident investigations and root-cause analysis. Assist with workers' compensation claims and OSHA recordkeeping and reporting. Conduct or coordinate safety training, toolbox talks, job-site meetings, and onboarding safety training. Maintain safety records, training records, inspection reports, and investigation documentation. Evaluate work conditions, equipment, materials, and processes for safety hazards. Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards. Work with supervisors and field employees to address safety concerns and improve safe work practices. Communicate significant safety issues, incidents, trends, and corrective actions to the Owner. Help build and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the company. What We're Looking For Required High school diploma or equivalent. 5-7 years of experience in construction safety, industrial safety, occupational safety, or a related field. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and federal and state safety requirements. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Willingness and ability to travel regularly to job sites throughout the Midwest. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Preferred 10+ years of relevant experience preferred. Associate degree in safety, occupational health, construction management, or a related field. Industrial construction experience. Industrial mechanical construction experience. Construction project management experience. Safety program management experience. Experience with workers' compensation claims. Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis. OSHA 30-Hour certification. First Aid/CPR certification. Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate safety policies, procedures, and training to Spanish-speaking employees. Work Environment This is a hands-on safety position that requires regular time at active construction and industrial job sites. Regular travel throughout the Midwest. Work in office, construction, industrial, and outdoor environments. Exposure to varying weather conditions. Extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, and navigating active job sites. Frequent use of required PPE. Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
