Silver Dollar City Resort

Silver Dollar City Resort - Director of Safety & Security

Job Description

Job Summary Silver Dollar City is ushering in a new era of Ozarks hospitality with its first-ever landmark resort, a stunning six-story, craftsman-style, 262-room retreat which overlooks sweeping, untouched vistas of the Ozark Mountains and Table Rock Lake. Thoughtfully designed to blur the lines between nature, craft, and comfort, Silver Dollar City Resort offers guests direct, priority access to the park and nearby attractions and serves as a focal point of a major multi-million-dollar investment redefining the Branson experience. From the theme park and White Water to Showboat cruises and the region's most beloved adventures, the resort is the best way to experience it all. Joining the Silver Dollar City Resort team is becoming part of a legacy of service. Rooted in the Herschend family's decades-long commitment to heartfelt hospitality, inspiring storytelling, and the preservation of regional craft, this organization has grown from a single cave tour in the 1950s into the world's largest family-owned theme park, attractions, and hospitality company. If you're passionate about creating meaningful, memory-making experiences and want to play a foundational role in shaping how thousands of families discover the Ozarks for generations to come, this is a rare opportunity to help build something extraordinary with a mission-driven team that truly cares. The ideal candidate will embody a calm, steady presence and a service-first mindset, understanding that the best security is felt more than seen. They know that true safety supports, not distracts from the connection, comfort, and joy of every guest experience. Summary of Essential Functions & Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and security protocols to protect guests, employees, and property across the resort's 262 guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and 21,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space. Build and lead the on-property Safety & Security team, including a Safety & Security Supervisor and security staff, covering recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to ensure consistent presence across all shifts. Serve as the resort's primary liaison with Silver Dollar City theme park security and safety operations, coordinating protocols, information sharing, and incident response given the resort's priority-access relationship with the park and guest movement between the two properties. Conduct regular risk assessments, internal audits, and safety inspections across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. Coordinate with the Director of Human Resources on guest claims intake and workers' compensation reporting, serving as the operational point of contact for incident documentation while HR retains case administration. Oversee emergency response procedures and crisis management protocols; coordinate evacuation drills, fire safety training, and first aid certification programs for staff. Serve as the primary point of contact with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency response teams during incidents or emergencies. Ensure accurate documentation, investigation, and follow-up of all incidents including guest complaints, employee injuries, theft, accidents, and property damage. Monitor security systems, including surveillance cameras, alarm systems, key control systems, and access points; investigate abnormalities and report findings to senior leadership. Advise resort leadership on safety compliance, insurance requirements, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop and maintain policies related to loss prevention, asset protection, and emergency communication procedures. Educate employees on workplace safety protocols and promote a proactive safety culture across all departments. Monitor visitor access and delivery operations, ensuring all contractors and third-party vendors comply with resort policies and credentialing standards. Coordinate crowd control, credentialing, and logistical planning for weddings, conferences, and other large-scale banquet events, and for VIP visits. Collaborate with Engineering and IT departments to maintain physical and cyber security infrastructure and conduct periodic reviews of key systems. Prepare safety and incident reports for executive leadership and participate in quarterly safety review meetings. Manage contracts and service levels for outsourced security services or alarm monitoring systems, if applicable. Stay current on industry trends, threat assessments, and regional safety concerns through professional development and local networking groups. Support corporate reporting needs by submitting required data for insurance claims, liability tracking, and brand safety audits. Promote wellness and emergency preparedness campaigns to enhance employee awareness and readiness year-round. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work assigned schedules, including required travel, overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time. Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, hospitality management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service, with at least 2 years in a hospitality or hotel environment. CPR, AED, First Aid, and OSHA safety certification preferred. Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Lodging Security Director (CLSD), or similar credentials preferred but not required. Experience managing teams and coordinating emergency responses, safety protocols, and investigative processes. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement security policies, procedures, and training programs. Working knowledge of fire safety, emergency response, loss prevention, access control, and surveillance systems. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, ADA compliance, and local/state safety codes applicable to hospitality operations. Proficiency with security software, CCTV systems, key control programs, and reporting tools. Strong analytical and incident-reporting skills with attention to detail and legal documentation standards. Proven leadership skills with experience directing teams and external vendors. Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in emergencies or high-stress situations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to train staff and collaborate with all levels of resort leadership. Capable of handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Physically able to walk and stand for extended periods, patrol the property, respond quickly to incidents, and perform safety-related tasks. Strong ethical standards and a commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for guests and employees. Must successfully pass background and drug tests. Ability to respond quickly and safely to emergencies throughout the property. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity. Ability to visually observe surroundings, read reports and surveillance monitors, and recognize potential safety or security concerns. Ability to hear and communicate clearly in person, by telephone, and over a two-way radio, including in noisy environments. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations.
