Job Description

Messer Construction is seeking a Sr. Safety Manager to lead safety programs across complex construction projects. In this role, you will develop and implement safety strategies, ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards, conduct site audits, and drive incident prevention. You will coach project teams, lead investigations, analyze safety metrics, and champion a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide construction safety programs and procedures Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations and Messer standards Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments Lead incident/accident investigations and root-cause analysis; develop corrective actions Analyze safety data and KPIs; prepare reports and recommendations for leadership Coach and mentor project teams, supervisors, and subcontractors on safe work practices Lead safety planning for high-risk activities (crane work, confined space, excavation, etc.) Coordinate safety training and ensure required certifications remain current Collaborate with operations and project management to integrate safety into project planning Promote a strong safety culture aligned with Messer's values of integrity and excellence Required Skills OSHA construction safety regulations (OSHA 1926) Job hazard analysis and risk assessment Accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis Safety program development and implementation Construction means and methods knowledge Safety data analysis and reporting (KPIs, trends) Training design and delivery for safety topics Regulatory compliance and documentation Auditing and inspection techniques Fall protection, scaffolding, and crane safety
