Fletcher, NC Job Type:
Full-Time Join Our Team! We are seeking a motivated and experienced Transportation Safety Manager to lead our fleet safety and compliance initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations, promoting a strong safety culture, and partnering with drivers and operations to minimize risk while maintaining the highest safety standards. If you have experience in transportation safety, DOT compliance, and enjoy working with people to improve performance and accountability, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and programs in compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations. Maintain Driver Qualification Files (DQFs), including MVRs, medical certifications, CDL verification, and required documentation. Administer and audit DOT drug and alcohol testing programs, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing. Monitor CSA scores and develop corrective action plans to improve safety performance. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Conduct safety audits for drivers, vehicles, and terminal operations. Monitor Hours of Service (HOS), Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance, and driver performance. Review telematics and dash camera data to identify unsafe driving behaviors and provide coaching. Conduct new driver orientation and ongoing safety training. Prepare for DOT audits and maintain compliance with roadside inspections, annual inspections, and regulatory requirements. Assist with workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and other safety-related initiatives. Prepare safety reports and present trends and recommendations to leadership. Stay current on FMCSA, DOT, and state regulatory changes. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree in Safety, Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred). At least 1 year of experience in transportation safety, fleet safety, DOT compliance, or trucking operations. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, and Hours of Service regulations. Experience with ELD systems, telematics platforms, and Driver Qualification File management. Strong analytical, investigative, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience conducting audits and presenting findings to management. Preferred Experience managing CSA scores and preparing for DOT audits. CDL or previous commercial driving experience is a plus, but not required. $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
