Job Description
Quality Manager Tidewater Transit Co., Inc. Position Summary Tidewater Transit Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems across our transportation operations. This position will take a hands-on approach to operational quality, process compliance, customer requirements, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. The Quality Manager will work closely with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, Recruiting, and senior leadership to ensure established procedures are consistently followed and that service failures and quality concerns are thoroughly investigated and corrected. The successful candidate will have experience working in a regulated transportation, logistics, industrial, chemical, or similar operating environment and will be comfortable working directly with field operations as well as senior management. Key Responsibilities Own and continuously improve the company's quality management program. Conduct operational and process audits across terminals and departments. Identify gaps between established procedures and actual operating practices. Investigate customer complaints, service failures, quality incidents, and recurring operational issues. Lead root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes. Develop corrective-action plans and verify that corrective actions remain effective. Monitor compliance with company policies, SOPs, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements. Partner with terminal and operations leadership to improve process consistency and accountability. Develop, document, and maintain quality procedures, standards, and controls. Review operational trends and quality data to identify systemic risks before they result in customer loss or significant incidents. Participate in customer quality reviews, audits, and corrective-action discussions when required. Support development and implementation of training related to procedures, process compliance, and quality expectations. Work closely with Safety and Operations on investigations involving overlapping quality, regulatory, operational, or safety concerns. Assist leadership with internal audits and preparation for customer and regulatory audits. Establish meaningful quality KPIs and provide regular reporting to senior leadership. Promote a culture of accountability, process discipline, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Perform other related responsibilities and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. 5+ years of progressive experience in quality, transportation, logistics, operations, compliance, safety, or a related field. Experience working within a regulated operating environment. Strong experience with process auditing, investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Demonstrated ability to identify operational weaknesses and implement sustainable process improvements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with frontline employees, terminal management, departmental leadership, customers, and senior executives. Willingness to travel to company locations as necessary. Strongly Preferred Experience in trucking, transportation, or logistics. Experience with DOT-regulated motor carrier operations. Familiarity with
FMCSA/DOT
regulations and transportation safety requirements. Experience in hazardous materials, chemical transportation, bulk liquid, tanker, or other highly regulated transportation operations. Experience participating in or leading regulatory, customer, safety, or quality audits. Experience developing SOPs, compliance programs, or management systems. Experience managing investigations involving operational, safety, compliance, or customer-service failures. Previous leadership responsibility involving quality, safety, compliance, operations, or risk management. Knowledge of continuous-improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, CAPA, or similar disciplines. Leadership Profile The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who is comfortable challenging existing practices, identifying where procedures are not being followed, and working with management to implement meaningful corrective actions. This individual should possess the judgment, leadership presence, regulatory awareness, and operational understanding necessary to take on increasing levels of responsibility as the organization continues to grow.
Job Requirements:
