waco, texas Posted 8/17/2026 Closes 9/30/2026 Job details Summary Spherion $75,000 - $100,000 per year Permanent 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Various Shifts Available) Industry warehousing & distribution (Transportation and Material Moving Occupations) Reference number S_179357 Spherion Staffing is actively recruiting a dedicated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist on behalf of a premier manufacturing leader specializing in nonwoven product solutions. The EHS Specialist owns environmental, health, and safety support for the facility, prioritizing team member safety while driving regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local standards. Serving as a key leader, facilitator, and coach, you will collaborate closely with operational teams to implement robust safety programs, conduct risk assessments, manage wastewater compliance, and foster a proactive, safety-first workplace culture.
Responsibilities:
Safety & Program Management:
Evaluate, update, and implement site safety programs, policies, and practices to mitigate risks and eliminate occupational hazards.
Compliance & Reporting:
Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local EHS regulations; assist with and maintain environmental reports, permits, and permanent operating records.
Incident Investigation:
Lead root-cause analyses for near misses and incidents to execute preventative safety measures and eliminate recurring hazards. ...
Wastewater Oversight:
Manage compliance for the onsite wastewater program, including routine testing, agency reporting, and timely regulatory communication.
Audits & Risk Assessments:
Perform routine site audits, Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), PPE hazard assessments, and ergonomic evaluations; participate in
ISO 9001
2015 audits.
Training & Culture:
Develop and present regulatory-required safety training, coordinate plant-wide safety meetings, and deliver ongoing coaching to advance site safety culture.
Metrics & Analytics:
Track and report EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive strategic and tactical safety improvements. Required Skills & Qualifications Working hours: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
Professional Certifications:
Active Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential, or the ability to achieve CSP certification.
Process Safety Management:
Prior experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols.
Technical Risk Assessment:
Advanced experience evaluating chemical, gas, electrical, and mechanical risks associated with complex manufacturing machinery.
Education:
No Degree Required Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
Experience:
3?5 years of dedicated EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Wastewater Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience managing wastewater treatment and compliance programs.
Certifications:
OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications required.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Solid working knowledge of environmental compliance regulations, safety standards, and local permitting processes.
Communication & Collaboration:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
Problem-Solving & Detail:
Strong critical thinking, analytical problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
