Garrison Steel is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to support a safe, compliant workplace. This position will conduct inspections, provide employee training, investigate incidents, maintain safety records, and help ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. Responsibilities Conduct routine safety inspections of fabrication facilities, equipment, and work areas. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and new-employee safety orientations. Investigate injuries, incidents, property damage, and near misses. Conduct routine hazard assessments and maintain a proactive safety culture. Prepare investigation reports and track corrective actions. Maintain training records, inspection reports, and required safety documentation. Monitor employee compliance with established safety procedures. Assist supervisors with safe job procedures. Update & maintain lockout tagout procedures and training. Maintain compliance and coordinate hazardous waste operations and along with other environmental regulations. Support workers' compensation and return-to-work processes. Stay informed about changes to OSHA and EPA/ADEM, regulations and recognized safety practices. Perform other safety-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Successful completion of OSHA 511- proof of course completion required. Working knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard identification, incident investigation, and corrective-action procedures. Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills. Ability to conduct employee training and address unsafe behavior professionally. Working knowledge of cranes, rigging, and the steel industry. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business software. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, or a related field. First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. OHST, or similar safety credentials. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills. Physical and Travel Requirements Ability to walk through active fabrication and construction areas. Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods. Ability to wear required PPE and work around noise, dust, heat, and outdoor weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Travel to job sites may be required.
Pay:
Up to $23.00 per hour
