Lumber & Safety Coordinator (Quality Control) Full-Time | Hourly, Non-Exempt | Plant Floor / Yard Alpine Truss is looking for a hands-on Lumber & Safety Coordinator to join our production team. This is a floor-based role, not a desk job or a supervisory position — you'll be working shoulder-to-shoulder with our sawyers, pickers, and stackers every day, catching quality issues before they become problems and helping keep our plant a safe place to work. If you have a sharp eye for detail, take pride in doing things right, and like being part of a team rather than standing over one, we'd love to talk to you. What You'll Do Own our TPI (Truss Plate Institute) Quality Control Program — inspecting plate placement, lumber selection, and build accuracy Catch and correct issues on the floor in real time, working directly alongside production Document findings and follow corrective actions through to completion Serve as the final quality check on bundling, tagging, and shipments before they leave the yard Manage lumber receiving, storage, rotation, and quality — and keep truss plate inventory stocked and organized Help lead plant safety efforts: spotting hazards, supporting toolbox talks and inspections, and keeping safety logs current What We're Looking For Understanding of truss components and assembly is a plus Ability to read truss drawings and production paperwork is a plus A working knowledge of quality control processes Experience in truss manufacturing, construction, or a related trade is a plus Familiarity with lumber grading, TPI standards, or OSHA guidelines is a plus — or a willingness to learn What You Bring to the Table A hands-on, team-first attitude — you lead by example, not by authority Strong attention to detail and follow-through Comfort working alongside production teams daily, indoors and out Clear communication and consistent documentation habits Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet — standing, walking, bending, and climbing for most of the shift Why Alpine Truss This role carries real responsibility and real trust — you'll have a direct hand in the quality and safety of everything that leaves our yard, without getting buried in red tape or bureaucracy. We're a team that values people who show up, pay attention, and follow through.
