This position trains and mentors ready-mix drivers, ensures company procedures are consistently followed, monitors driver performance, assists with regulatory compliance, and provides dispatch coverage as needed. The role serves as a liaison between operations, dispatch, quality control, and drivers to improve safety, productivity, customer service, and operational efficiency Driver Training & Development Train all newly hired ready-mix drivers on company policies, procedures, and expectations. Provide refresher training for existing drivers. Develop and maintain standardized training materials and checklists. Coach drivers on defensive driving techniques and safe operating practices. Verify drivers understand proper concrete handling and delivery procedures. Train drivers on customer service expectations and jobsite professionalism. Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce company safety policies. Conduct regular safety observations and field audits. Investigate accidents and incidents. Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure completion. Monitor compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements. Ensure pre-trip and post-trip inspections are completed accurately and consistently. Verify drivers maintain current licenses, medical certificates, and required qualifications. Operations Ensure drivers follow established dispatch and delivery procedures. Monitor ticket accuracy and required paperwork. Verify proper documentation of returned concrete, washout, and rejected loads. Observe loading and unloading practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Monitor driver productivity and identify opportunities for improvement. Work closely with dispatch to improve fleet utilization and customer service. Driver Performance Management Conduct regular driver performance evaluations. Address attendance, punctuality, and policy compliance issues. Provide coaching and corrective action recommendations when necessary. Recognize and encourage safe and efficient performance. Maintain training and performance documentation. Dispatch Support Provide dispatch coverage during vacations, absences, or periods of high workload. Assist with scheduling trucks and drivers. Coordinate deliveries to maximize fleet efficiency. Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, batch plants, and sales staff. Resolve delivery issues in a professional and timely manner Customer Service Maintain positive relationships with customers and contractors. Assist in resolving customer complaints regarding deliveries. Promote professional communication between drivers and customers. Ensure drivers represent the company professionally at all times. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain driver qualification and training records. Prepare safety and training reports. Track key performance indicators related to safety and driver performance. Assist in developing and updating company transportation policies and procedures. Participate in safety meetings and operational planning sessions. Qualifications CDL Class A or B preferred. Minimum five years of ready-mix concrete transportation or dispatch experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of ready-mix operations and delivery procedures. Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and applicable state regulations. Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Skills Experience conducting driver training programs. Knowledge of Command Alkon or similar dispatch systems. Experience investigating vehicle accidents and safety incidents. Ability to analyze driver performance metrics. Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills. Performance Expectations Success in this role will be measured by: Reduction in preventable accidents and safety incidents. Improved completion and accuracy of pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Increased compliance with company policies and DOT regulations. Improved driver performance and retention. Reduced delivery errors and paperwork deficiencies.
