Safety Technician - Madison, GA

Job Description

Your Job Georgia-Pacific's Madison Plywood facility is now hiring a Health & Safety Technician to help create a safe, compliant, and productive workplace. In this role, you'll partner with employees, supervisors, and contractors to identify hazards, support safety programs, investigate incidents, and promote continuous improvement across the facility. This is a hands-on position with significant time spent in the manufacturing environment coaching employees, supporting compliance efforts, and helping ensure critical safety systems remain effective.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM (flexibility required)
Pay:
Starting at $24.00/hour, with higher pay based on qualifications and experience. --- Our Team Georgia-Pacific's Madison Plywood facility is a leading manufacturer within our Building Products division.   • Partner with employees, supervisors, and contractors to identify hazards, coach safe work practices, and reduce workplace risk.
  • Conduct safety observations, inspections, audits, and risk assessments to support OSHA compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, visitors, and new hires.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Maintain safety documentation, training records, metrics, and required compliance records.
  • Support contractor safety, onboarding activities, and site compliance expectations.
  • Help manage critical safety programs, including machine guarding, hazardous energy control (LOTO), fall protection, confined spaces, powered industrial vehicles, PPE, and other high-risk processes.
  • Support inspections and maintenance coordination for life-safety equipment, including gas detection systems, eyewash stations, AEDs, fire extinguishers, and emergency response equipment.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness, seasonal safety initiatives, and environmental risk reduction efforts.
  • Serve as a trusted safety resource by building strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, holidays, or on-call support as needed.
  • Willing and able to work in industrial environments and flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments as needed. --- Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in safety, manufacturing, industrial operations, maintenance, construction, military, emergency response, or a related hands-on environment.
  • Experience identifying hazards, communicating risk reduction strategies, and supporting safety training, inspections, audits, or co.
