Job Description

Join Our Team John N. John, Inc. is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Safety & Compliance Coordinator to support our transportation operations. This position plays an important role in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting risk management initiatives, coordinating insurance claims, and assisting with Human Resources functions. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Dispatch, Maintenance, Human Resources, insurance carriers, and regulatory agencies to help ensure our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. Primary Responsibilities Support compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and applicable state transportation regulations. Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) Files and other required compliance documentation. Assist with driver hiring, qualification, onboarding, and orientation. Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance. Monitor CSA Safety Measurement System (SMS) scores and assist with corrective action initiatives. Assist with FMCSA, DOT, customer, insurance, and internal compliance audits. Assist with accident and incident investigations, documentation, and follow-up. Coordinate commercial auto liability, cargo, workers' compensation, and physical damage insurance claims. Communicate with insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and third-party administrators regarding claims and claim resolution. Assist with administration of the DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program. Support the development and maintenance of company safety and compliance policies and procedures. Assist with Human Resources functions, including onboarding, employee documentation, policy administration, personnel records, and disciplinary documentation. Review safety performance, CSA data, accident trends, and claims activity to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Collaborate with Operations, Dispatch, Maintenance, and Management to support company goals and maintain regulatory compliance. Perform other safety, compliance, and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications 1-2 years of experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, safety, compliance, HR, or a related field preferred. Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance is preferred. Experience with Driver Qualification Files, Hours of Service, and ELD systems is a plus. Familiarity with DOT audits, accident investigations, or commercial insurance claims is beneficial. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Samsara or similar fleet management software is a plus. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality. A willingness to learn, accept new challenges, and contribute as part of a team. Pay:
$45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
