Job Description

Posting Details Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within one (1) week of closing date. Why does the job exist? To ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Federal, State, and NM Department of Transportation (NMDOT) directives to keep in compliance of laws and provide for the safety of NM Department of Transportation (NMDOT) employees. How does it get done? Performs facility and work process inspections to recognize and mitigate hazards; investigates accidents, incidents, and personal injuries; conducts training in defensive driving, first aid/CPR, and other safety related topics; maintains current, accurate records of various safety requirements. Who are the customers? NMDOT District One employees and the traveling public. Ideal Candidate NMDOT District One employees and the traveling public. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in a risk management or a safety-related field (e.g., loss control, safety, and Worker¿s Compensation case management activities and workplace inspections). Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Business reference check and Driver's License verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Exposure to varying weather conditions, exhaust fumes, fuels, chemicals, and loud noises. Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage; Exposure to varying weather conditions, exhaust fumes, fuels, chemicals, and loud noises. Exposure to sunlight, dust, environmental allergens; loud noises; confined spaces, and stressful situations; interaction with the public by phone and in person; Sitting/Standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling for extended periods of time may be required.
