Objective The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for leading and advancing a proactive safety culture and environmental compliance program across the organization. This role serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all EHS matters, partnering cross-functionally with Operations and leadership to reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement. Essential Functions EHS Leadership & Strategy Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site-wide EHS programs Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) including TRIR, near misses, and environmental metrics Partner with leadership to integrate safety into daily operations and decision-making Compliance & Regulatory Management Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations Maintain all required environmental permits, reporting, and documentation Lead and manage regulatory inspections and external audits Safety Programs & Risk Management Conduct risk assessments and drive hazard identification and mitigation efforts Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans Maintain and improve safety policies, procedures, and programs Environmental Management Oversee hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal Monitor employee exposure and environmental impact records Drive environmental sustainability and waste reduction initiatives Training & Culture Development Develop and deliver safety and environmental training programs Promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture across all levels of the organization Serve as a coach and advisor to supervisors and employees on EHS best practices Authority & Influence Serves as the primary point of contact for all internal and external EHS-related matters, including regulatory agencies and audits Advise leadership on risk, compliance, and operational safety improvements Has authority to halt unsafe work and recommend corrective action Schedule & Availability Expectations This position supports a 24/7 manufacturing operation Serves as the primary on-call contact for EHS-related incidents and emergencies outside of standard working hours Must be able to respond to urgent situations, including occasional after-hours, weekend, or off-shift support as needed Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or chemical environment Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions Demonstrated ability to influence and engage employees at all levels Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Preferred Skills Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, or CHMM Experience leading regulatory audits or inspections Experience developing and implementing EHS programs Knowledge of
