J ob Summary The Safety Specialist will be responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations Coordinate safety training programs for employees to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols, including quarterly safety meetings Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions New Hire Safety Orientation Program; oversee its development, implementation, and continuous improvement to ensure that all new employees receive comprehensive safety training and orientation Conduct annual driver ride along Review driver logs Update and maintain emergency response plans, conduct periodic safety drills. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention Administers compliance with environmental regulations for the facility. This includes permits, reports, and hazmat training Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, including incident rates, trends, and recommendations for improvement Assist the HR Manager in interviewing and hiring of drivers Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to workplace safety
Skills/Requirements:
Class A or Class B CDL Required
Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations (state and federal), and DOT Hazmat regulations is preferred
At least one year of related experience and execution of similar duties in transportation
Skilled and familiar with industrial health, hygiene, safety practices, and environmental practices.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
