Maintenance / HSE Coordinator
Job Description
Objectives The maintenance coordinator schedules, coordinates, and drives the execution of maintenance activities with limited interruption to the production goals of the plant and mine. The maintenance coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that all work is completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements. Organization Structure The maintenance coordinator reports to the mine manager and has a crew of mechanics that works for him or her. Specific Accountabilities The incumbent must have a strong knowledge of safety policies and practices and is responsible for ensuring the execution arm of maintenance works safely. Ensures motivation of staff members through proper delegation, participation, recognition, and follow up on suggestions and ideas. They will give constructive feedback and coaching as required to maintain a high degree of professionalism within the group. Schedules the daily and weekly workload of the maintenance department. Develops annual equipment overhauls, regular preventative maintenance work schedules and coordinates the schedules with production. Responsible for prioritizing work orders based on criticality to the operation as well as manpower and downtime availability while always taking into consideration the effect on equipment reliability. Ensures that planning is complete before scheduling job tasks. Responsible for ensuring that pertinent information is recorded in the equipment history as well as ensuring that work orders are closed, and history is entered by the supervisors. Leads weekly scheduling/coordination meetings with other departments to specify downtime requirements and define interaction between the different operational groups. Initiates and schedules routine contract work. Responsible for ensuring administrative functions for appropriate cost control are in place, such as providing the scope of work to the vendor, approving purchase order requisitions and managing within budgeted dollars. Maintains the mechanical backlog (in cooperation with the inspectors) ensuring work orders are up to date, have been sufficiently planned and are kept live as required providing information as to the status and scheduling requirements of the same. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years' related experience in engineering and maintenance of equipment and facilities in a professional role. Experience in the mining industry is strongly desired. Demonstrate ability in planning, organizing, directing and developing the maintenance department. Extensive technical problem-solving background. Negotiating abilities and competency in conflict resolution. Proven participative management style and ability to develop teams.
