Position Highlights Job Summary:
The role of the Safety Coordinator is to direct and coordinate all phases of the hospital's Safety Program, Emergency Preparedness, and all other duties as assigned.
Position Accountable to:
Maintenance Director & Administrator Essential Job Functions:
Will personally serve as coordinator of the safety program Will provide individualized department safety training, as needed Assist all departments in developing safety rules and practices Will have fire drills on a monthly basis to ensure the hospital is in compliance with federal and state requirements. Alternate day and night shift. Maintain policies and procedures as related to safety Maintain a "master copy" of all MSDS or SDS on the "P" drive, accessible to all employees or a location where certain departments are stored Request that all departments annually review their

update to me. EP Drills
Plan, coordinate, communicate, perform after-action review and document EP drills as well as response to actual events in accordance with CMS requirements Liaison
Act as communication liaison with County, State and Avera EP Coordinators.
to the State, Regional & National Emergency Response Commission. Will hold monthly Safety Committee meetings HVA
Coordinate annual Hazardous Vulnerability Analysis with local jurisdiction and submit report to the Safety Committee. EP report to the Safety Committee. Decon Team
Collaborates with support for ED nursing training from Decon Coordinator. Coordinates and tracks employee PPE for TB & Pandemic response in collaboration with Infection Prevention. Security
Sits on Security subcommittee (quarterly) from an EP perspective.
IE:
Active Shooter, Lock Down.
Essential Physical Demands :
Walking, alternating with sedentary work. Must be able to tolerate sitting for long period of time. Must have near and far vision acuity, field of vision accommodation, and hearing acuity for up to 8 hours.
Work Environment :
Works inside. Maybe required to inspect outside areas. Works with and around others. Has verbal face to face contact with others. Exposure to blood and body fluids, airborne pathogens, hazardous waste and chemicals, communicable disease, moving objects, high places, slippery surfaces is possible. Equipment Used to

Education :
Baccalaureate degree in nursing, medical technology, healthcare management, or safety desired but not required. Applicable work experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree.

Experience :
Three years' experience in healthcare with two years' experience in healthcare safety preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities :
Organizational, management and communication skills. Ability to effectively deal with people. Objectivity in dealing with identified problem. Computer skills are required with knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point preferred. Must maintain confidentiality when dealing with all customers. Must be flexible to change and have the ability to work in a team environment. Performs all duties consistent with safety principles and is expected to comply with all laws, regulation and standards associated with, but not limited to, CMS, OSHA, Medicare and Medicaid.
