Position Overview The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Security Officer for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to perform safety and protection services. Transports individuals on and off campus. Inspects ambulance equipment, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems to ensure proper working order; assists with fire drills.

Essential Functions Performs safety and protection services at Murray Development Center. Operates cars and vans in the transporting of individuals to hospitals or other locations on and off grounds. Enforces vehicle speed, parking regulations and other traffic controls at the Center. Assists law enforcement personnel during arrests and investigations. Manages the facility Employee ID Badge System. Performs other duties as required which are reasonably within the scope of those duties enumerated above.\nMinimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.

Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.

Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of experience working with security requirements and regulations for a public or private organization.\nTwo (2) years of experience working with emergency response procedures including fire safety and controls for a public or private organization.\nTwo (2) years of experience in the use of security enforcement practices and techniques.\nTwo (2) years of experience providing initial responses to security breaches and safety hazards.\nTwo (2) years of experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.\nConditions of Employments Requires ability to climb stairs, chase runaways, and physically restrain and control individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others. Requires the ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.\nRequires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.\nRequires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers and basic computer skills.\nRequires the ability to work to travel in the performance of job duties. Requires appropriate valid driver's license. Requires the ability to work in a 24 hour \"on call\" capacity. Requires the ability to become OIG rule 50.3 certified within 90 days of employment. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.\nRequires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
