QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate or equivalent (GED)

Strong interpersonal skills to build successful working relationships with students and staff

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Self-motivated with ability to work independently Dependable and of good moral character

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Remain mobile and visible by patrolling school corridors, locker rooms, restrooms, athletic facilities, gymnasiums, parking lots, and other campus locations in order to observe student behavior and prevent violations of school rules or unsafe activities.

Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security.

Monitor buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities.

Observe and monitor student behavior outside the classroom.

Intervene appropriately when necessary.

Notify administrators of bullying incidents and/or threats of harm to students on or near campus, and other issues that require immediate attention.

Refer students to administration in cases of flagrant or repeated violations of school policies.

Operate a two way radio to communicate with school office and school resource officers.

Diffuse threatening situations/confrontations in a positive and constructive manner.

Observe, intervene, and gather information regarding inappropriate activities or behavior.

Perform other tasks related to the position, as assigned.

Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students, if needed.
