Security Officer

Job Description

Patrol watershed roads, trails, dam sites, reservoirs, and gatehouses on foot and by utility vehicle to detect trespassing, illegal dumping, vandalism, or unauthorized access. Monitor perimeter fencing, security cameras, alarm systems, and drone surveillance feeds; respond to and document alerts and intrusions. Staff and control access points, gates, and checkpoints; verify identification and credentials of contractors, vendors, researchers, and authorized visitors. Conduct security inspections of reservoirs, dams, gatehouses, and other critical infrastructure, and report deficiencies to engineering and operations staff. Respond to and document security incidents, safety hazards, and suspicious activity; prepare detailed incident and patrol reports. Enforce watershed rules and regulations governing public access, fishing, hiking, and recreational use of designated trails and access points. Coordinate with Police, Fire, and DWSU engineering, ecological, and forestry staff during incidents, emergencies, and capital or maintenance projects. Provide traffic and access control support during storm response, emergency repairs, capital construction, and seasonal operations. Respond to medical emergencies, downed trees, flooding, and other hazards encountered while on patrol, and support broader emergency response efforts as needed. Maintain security equipment, patrol vehicles, communication radios, and monitoring technology in good working order. Support the Department's Watershed Security Improvements Project by monitoring newly installed fencing, cameras, and vehicle barriers, and reporting on system performance. Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to maintain 24/7 security coverage of the watershed.
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
