We seek a dedicated and detail-oriented Adult Protective Services (APS) Investigator to join our team. This role involves conducting thorough investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of endangered adults. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking and communication skills, along with a passion for helping vulnerable populations. This role is Hybrid, with two days at home, 1 in-office day, and a minimum of two days of local travel. This role does require on-site investigations. Travel is required within the Lafayette /West Lafayette area within a 1-hour radius.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation involving endangered adults Conduct thorough investigations, including interviews, record reviews, and collaboration with other investigative agencies Initiate and facilitate referrals to services and community resources Document investigation activities, including case planning, safety planning, case notes, and findings within 36 hours of visit Serve as the Priority A (within 24 hours of receipt) responder to initiate timely contact with clients facing immediate harm on a rotating basis Respond to all assigned investigations within the required timeframe Review and respond to quality assurance evaluations
Required Skills & Competencies:
Ability to think critically, incorporating multiple factors into larger concepts Strong organizational skills with abilities to simultaneously manage multiple investigations Ability to work with and relate to others with customer relation techniques, professionalism, and respect for other cultures Ability to effectively use active listening and interviewing skills Ability to adapt quickly when policies and regulations change Must be computer literate and have MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet skills Ability to foster teamwork with all levels of management and staff Ability to work well independently and within a team Superior verbal and written communication skills Strong decision-making skills, with accuracy and attention to detail 1+ years of experience with adult protective services, investigatory, social services, human services, or law enforcement work
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience in APS, investigations, social services, human services, or law enforcement. Axon Advisors offers a range of benefits for this role.
