Event Security Guard -
Gate & Bag Check Specialist Location:
Ridgefield, WA (Clark County Fairgrounds)
Position Type:
Temporary / Event-Based Position Overview We are seeking vigilant, reliable, and customer-service-oriented Event Security Guards to join our team for the Clark County Fair in Ridgefield, WA. In this role, you will serve as the primary line of safety and hospitality, managing stationary entry checkpoints to maintain a secure, orderly, and enjoyable environment for all attendees, vendors, and staff. This position requires a dependable professional who can maintain a calm, alert, and stationary presence under pressure, problem-solve with high integrity, and interact courteously with the public.
Key Responsibilities Gate & Bag Check Operations:
Conduct thorough, efficient, and polite security screenings at designated entry gates, ensuring prohibited items do not enter the fairgrounds.
Stationary Access Control:
Enforce strict badge verification, ticket scanning, and visitor sign-ins at your assigned checkpoint or restricted entry point.
De-escalation & Public Interaction:
Welcoming fairgoers while utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques to handle inquiries, defuse tense situations calmly, and professionally maintain order at the gates.
Alcohol Monitoring:
Monitor fixed checkpoints to ensure no outside alcohol enters the venue and that fair policies regarding legal consumption boundaries are respected.
Emergency Liaison:
Remain stationed and alert to respond promptly to safety hazards or emergencies, communicating instantly with roaming teams and management to handle incidents lawfully and decisively.
Incident Reporting:
Promptly alert leadership to signs of disorder or policy violations at your post, and assist in documenting accurate, professional incident details.
Requirements Guard Card:
Must possess a current and active Washington Unarmed Guard Card ( Required ).
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in security, customer service, or public-facing roles is preferred, but a strong work ethic and reliability are paramount.
Core Competencies:
Strong communication skills, exceptional situational awareness, and an uncompromised standard of personal integrity.
Physical Ability:
Must be physically capable of standing in a fixed location and maintaining an alert presence for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts) in an outdoor environment.
Transportation:
Must have access to reliable personal transportation to and from the fairgrounds in Ridgefield, WA.
Availability:
Must have completely open availability for the full duration of the fair assignment (including weekdays, weekends, and late nights).
Schedule & Logistics Shift Length:
8 to 12 hours per shift.
Shift Availability:
Morning, Swing, and Grave shifts are available (flexibility is highly preferred as specific spots are limited)
Morning:
0530-1430, 0600-1500 and 0700-1500 or 1000-2000 Swing 1330-2230 and 1500-2300 Grave/late night 15-2300
Work Location:
