The City of Talladega is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Line Service Technician to join the team at Talladega Municipal Airport. Under the direction of the Fixed Based Operations Manager, the Line Service Technician provides essential aircraft and airport support services, including aircraft fueling, ground support, facility and grounds maintenance, customer service, and general airport operations. This position works directly with pilots, airport tenants, customers, emergency personnel, and other airport and City personnel. The successful candidate must be safety-conscious, dependable, able to work independently, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Key Responsibilities Direct, guide, park, and tow arriving and departing aircraft. Fuel aircraft and ground support vehicles and provide oil and other related services. Monitor fuel levels and maintain accurate fuel inventories and records. Operate and inspect fuel trucks and other airport vehicles and equipment. Perform daily and monthly fuel truck safety inspections. Conduct required fuel quality-control checks, including tank and filter inspections and testing. Receive and properly transfer fuel deliveries into designated storage tanks. Perform grounding, safety, and spill-prevention procedures during fuel transfers. Maintain the airport fuel farm in a clean, safe, and compliant condition. Maintain airport grounds, runways, taxiways, terminal areas, hangars, and other facilities. Operate lawn and grounds-maintenance equipment, including tractors, mowers, sweepers, sprayers, blowers, and weed eaters. Assist with maintenance and repair of airport equipment, lighting, fixtures, and facilities. Maintain clean, safe, and organized passenger and aircraft movement areas. Monitor airport lights and report or address maintenance issues as appropriate. Respond appropriately to suspicious activity, unattended baggage, spills, and other safety concerns. Answer incoming calls and assist customers, pilots, tenants, and members of the public. Process fuel and other customer payments by cash, check, and credit card. Balance daily sales and cash receipts and make required bank deposits. Maintain daily operational, fuel, sales, and other required records. Operate computers, telephones, two-way radios, and standard office equipment. Follow all applicable City, FAA, state, and federal regulations and airport safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. At least one year of related work experience ; aviation or airport experience is preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability. Ability to successfully complete NATA Safety 1st Professional Line Service Technician Training within two years of hire . Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays, evenings, or other schedules as required by airport operations. Ability to travel for required training. Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background check. Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment and random drug screening. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to work effectively with pilots, airport personnel, City employees, customers, and the general public. Basic computer and office equipment skills. Ability to understand and respond to basic weather conditions and their potential impact on airport operations. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical & Work Requirements This position requires frequent standing and walking, including walking over uneven or rough surfaces. The employee may be required to bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, climb, and lift moderately heavy items. The position requires regular outdoor work and exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and other environmental conditions. The position may also involve exposure to aircraft, fuel, machinery, vehicles, and other potentially hazardous conditions.
