Job Description:
The Department of Business, Aviation, and Construction Professions at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a temporary full-time faculty position in its Aviation Maintenance Technician programs. This position is looking to hire as soon as possible.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Teaching undergraduate classes in aviation maintenance and supervising hands-on student work in hangar lab space; Preparation and management of classroom experiences and assessments to develop successful learning outcomes; Assisting students in achieving academic success; and Participation in college activities, including membership on shared governance committees.
Requirements:
Required qualifications : Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology, or closely related technical field; Current Federal Aviation Administration Mechanic Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings; At least three to five years' work experience exercising the privileges of both the Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certificate ratings; and An appreciation for diversity of all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction. Preferred qualifications : Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science or related field; Experience teaching at the college level, ideally at a community college; Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies; Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas; and An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education.
