Role Description The Fire Alarm Specialist role is a temporary, on-site position based in Newcastle, CA. This role involves installing, testing, inspecting, and maintaining fire alarm and related life-safety systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and corrective maintenance on fire detection and emergency lighting systems, troubleshooting system faults, and completing accurate documentation and reports. The specialist will coordinate with clients and internal teams to schedule work, explain findings, and ensure issues are resolved promptly and safely. The role also requires adherence to all safety policies, participation in site risk assessments, and support for continuous improvement in service delivery. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, and testing, including familiarity with fire detection, emergency lighting, smoke control, and voice alarm systems. Strong knowledge of relevant fire and electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, local building codes), with the ability to apply them in day-to-day field work. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and digital reporting systems to identify issues, record findings, and complete service documentation accurately. Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and internal teams on-site. Solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple service visits or projects. Relevant technical training or certification in fire alarm or electrical systems (e.g., NICET, electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent) is strongly preferred. Previous experience in fire safety, life-safety systems, or electrical services in a commercial or industrial environment is beneficial. Valid driver's license, ability to travel locally to customer sites, and capacity to perform physical tasks associated with on-site installation and maintenance work.
