Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Smart Home Consultant to lead the design, installation, and troubleshooting of integrated smart home security and automation systems. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert guidance on system capabilities and ensuring seamless integration of security, surveillance, and automation solutions. Your technical expertise and customer service skills will drive satisfaction and help homeowners create safer, smarter living environments. Duties Assess clients' needs by conducting on-site consultations to recommend tailored smart home solutions. Install, configure, and troubleshoot a variety of low-voltage electrical systems including security alarms, CCTV cameras, sensors, access control systems, and intercoms. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate system setup. Integrate door security systems, fire alarms, surveillance equipment, and remote access software into cohesive networked systems. Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on electrical security systems using hand tools and power tools; troubleshoot equipment issues effectively. Provide technical troubleshooting support for complex system failures related to cabling, networking, or hardware malfunctions. Educate customers on system operation, remote access features, and ongoing maintenance to maximize their smart home experience. Requirements Proven experience in field service roles involving electrical or security system installation and troubleshooting. Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in electrical wiring, low-voltage electrical systems, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation. Hands-on experience with computer hardware, networking protocols (including NEC standards), telecommunication setups, and remote access software. Knowledge of alarm & access control systems, CCTV surveillance technology, sensors (motion detectors), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and fire alarm integration. Ability to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, drills, along with power tools for installation tasks. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Physical ability to perform installations that require lifting equipment or working at heights; comfortable working in various environments. Valid experience as a service technician with a focus on electrical security system installation or low-voltage wiring projects preferred. Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings and schematics related to electrical security systems; experience in alarm system sales is a plus.
