Full-Time Seeking a Sprinkler Fitter with 7 years of experience specializing in the installation, assembly, and testing of fire sprinkler and standpipe systems for new construction projects across NYC. This role requires mastery of NFPA standards, NYC Building and Fire Codes, and the coordination demands of high‑rise construction environments. Key Responsibilities Install, assemble, and test fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, and related components in new residential, commercial, and mixed‑use buildings. Build out riser systems, branch lines, mains, and sprinkler head layouts according to engineered fire protection drawings and NYC code requirements. Work with steel pipe (schedule 10/40), CPVC, and specialty fire protection materials , including cutting, threading, grooving, welding, and mechanical joining. Install and configure fire pumps, jockey pumps, backflow preventers, OS&Y valves, check valves, and alarm valves commonly used in NYC high‑rise construction. Read and interpret fire protection plans, shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and submittals to ensure accurate system layout and installation. Coordinate daily with GCs, foremen, plumbers, electricians, HVAC teams, and
DOB/FDNY
inspectors to maintain compliance and avoid trade conflicts. Conduct hydrostatic tests, flow tests, pump acceptance tests, and alarm system checks required for FDNY and DOB sign‑offs. Install temporary standpipe systems and maintain fire protection during all phases of construction. Follow all

standards , NYC Fire Code, DOB regulations, and OSHA safety protocols. Document installation progress, material usage, test results, and any deviations from plans; communicate issues proactively to supervisors and project managers. Required Skills & Qualifications Minimum 7 years of sprinkler fitting experience , preferably on NYC construction projects. Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards , NYC Building Code, and FDNY inspection processes. Proficiency in installing standpipes, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, valves, and alarm components . Skilled in layout, measuring, hanger installation, seismic bracing, and ensuring proper spacing and coverage. Comfortable working in shafts, mechanical rooms, stairwells, scaffolds, lifts, and tight construction spaces typical of NYC job sites. Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to coordinate with multiple trades in dense, fast‑paced environments. OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred; additional fire protection certifications a plus. Experience preparing systems for FDNY hydrostatic tests and walkthroughs . Preferred Qualifications Experience on high‑rise towers, commercial skyscrapers, hospitals, or large multi‑building developments . Familiarity with fire pump room buildouts , including pump alignment, controller installation, and acceptance testing. Experience with complex standpipe zones, pressure‑reducing valves, and high‑pressure fire protection systems . Ability to mentor apprentices and junior fitters.
