This individual will be responsible for creating fire sprinkler working drawings using AutoCAD/HydraCAD, or AutoSprink and BIM models using Navisworks. They will also produce hydraulic calculations for all types of fire sprinkler systems, Wet, Dry, Pre-Action, Fire Pumps. Need to be knowledgeable on all the NFPA hazard classifications. Individual will need to produce the material stock listing for projects and assist with relaying design & fabrication information for field installation. This individual will design and coordinate the fire sprinkler systems for commercial and residential buildings. He/she will design and create the finished design for the sprinkler systems using drawings, drafting skills, and tools. The designer will have responsibility for the planning of a project including scheduling, analyzing changes, and solving problems. Close coordination with the Department Manager will be required through the end of the project.

Managerial role available:

Individual would be filling the role of Lead Designer with the responsibility of assisting Junior Designers. Manager will be expected to oversee Junior Designer's work, review plans, calculations, submittals, and listing sheets. Manager will assist with helping Junior Designer in the growth plan of achieving NICET Level 3 and/or 4 certifications.

REQUIREMENTS

5+ years of fire protection design experience. Certified NICET Level 3 or greater. High proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, or Autosprink, and Navisworks programs. Demonstrate ability to utilize Word, Excel, and PDF Readers. Ability to read and interpret all disciplines of construction drawings and specifications. Must be detail-oriented and have good communication skills. Excellent written language and interpersonal skills. Strong mechanical aptitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Design and layout of fire sprinkler systems. Analyze new & existing buildings for NFPA 13, 14 and 20 compliances. Prepare submittal drawings. Conduct hydraulic analysis of fire sprinkler system designs. Coordination of sprinkler system with architectural, structural, and mechanical systems. Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14 and 20. Review construction drawings and specifications. Field survey of both new and existing buildings. Attend on-site coordination meetings. Time management and prioritization of multiple projects at a time.

COMPENSATION

Starting at $31/hour. Additional pay per hour will be considered based on experience.
