Job Description

Summary:
The Specialist 1, Automotive Body Repair, will perform both semi-skilled and advanced skilled duties involving body repair and painting of automotive, bus, construction, maintenance and related equipment. Under general supervision, repairs damaged automotive and bus vehicle bodies.

Responsibilities:
 Uses lower level Automotive Body Repair Specialist in the performance of both body repair and painting duties through the use of manual and machine tools, as well as associated equipment.  Removes and replaces damaged fenders, doors, panels, windows, windshields, window regulators, door locks, etc.  Cleans and prepares surfaces for painting, to include assisting in the mixing/blending of paints and finishing compounds to insure the accurate matching of colors.  Maintains all required work order records related to project time, material costs as well as other records.  Complete assigned work orders  Maintain and update knowledge of service specialty  Work under limited supervision.  Insure that all equipment and associate supplies are utilized in a safe and efficient manner.  Operate motor vehicles of varying types and sizes in the performance of assigned duties.  Performs any other duties as assigned. Experience:
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in automotive painting and body repair.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger endorsement will be required.
Language Skills:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
