- Fleet mechanics who obtain three (3) Automotive Service Council (ASE) Certifications shall receive a bonus of five percent (5%) of gross pay per pay period.
An employee who obtains a total of six (6) ASE certifications shall receive a total bonus of ten percent (10%) of gross pay per pay period. Upon obtaining ten (10) ASE Certifications an employee shall be paid the ASE Incentive of fifteen percent (15%) of gross pay per pay period. Essential Job Duties The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Perform mechanical and service work on all City vehicles, trucks and other equipment such as: front ends; four wheel brake job; tire replacement/repair; electrical repair; tune-ups; carburetors/FI repairs; drive train repairs; diesel repair/minor/service. Pick up and deliver vehicles to various vendors. Repair parts on vehicles and equipment. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. At least four (4) years mechanical experience in the automotive/truck repair Completion of mechanical school or accredited technical school completion.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record. Must possess a Class B, CDL, with air brake endorsement or obtain it within six (6) months of the hiring date. ASE Certification in truck or automotive repair preferred. Knowledge of construction, assembly, adjustment and maintenance of a wide variety of automotive, truck and equipment. Knowledge of all types of shopping tools. Ability to follow directions and have a mechanical aptitude. Ability to repair diesel motors and pumps. Ability to diagnosis the defects of worn or broken parts on engines. Ability to perform tune-ups; electrical, brake, air conditioning, cooling system, exhaust system repairs; front end and clutch repairs; pumps and related equipment maintenance. Skill in applying methods and techniques in the use of automotive or diesel repairs. (A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
