As a Mechanic, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and engines essential to daily operations. This position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of mechanical systems, including cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic controls, and diesel, gas, and propane engines. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a collaborative work environment where every team members expertise is valued. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and engines, including cranes, hydraulic systems, charging/starting systems, mechanical gear drives, pneumatic controls, and diesel/gas/propane engines. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues using repair manuals, schematics, diagrams, and diagnostic procedures. Ensure the safe operation of all equipment and adherence to company safety protocols. Assist in developing and implementing maintenance policies, procedures, and preventative maintenance programs. Analyze operational reports to monitor equipment usage, maintenance efficiency, and quality, and recommend improvements as needed. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and support overall operational goals. Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Document and report all incidents according to company protocols. Support company safety initiatives and participate in safety training as required. Perform corrective and preventive maintenance tasks across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and welding disciplines as needed. Other duties as assigned to support the maintenance team and operational needs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1 year of industrial maintenance experience. Experience in the stevedoring industry is preferred. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Basic math skills and ability to follow directions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software. Ability to work at various heights and utilize fall arrest systems and harnesses. Physically fit to perform essential job functions, including lifting, climbing, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions. Commitment to teamwork and customer service. Valid drivers license required. Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
