Job Description

Pete's Tire Barns was started by Peter A. Gerry in 1968 and has grown to one of the largest independent tire dealerships in the country. Pete's currently operates 22 full-service locations in New England, a state-of-the art Distribution Center, 3 Bandag retread facilities, employs in excess of 300 people, and operates a fleet of over 100 service and delivery vehicles. Today, approximately 90% of our business is in the commercial truck tire and related markets. Pete's services everything from a wheelbarrow tire up to an earthmover tire. As a Mobile Fleet Mechanic, you will operate a fully equipped company service truck to travel directly to customer locations, job sites, and roadside breakdowns to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial trucks and fleet vehicles. This role requires the technical skill and independent judgment to diagnose and resolve issues in the field, along with a safe driving record and comfort working outside a traditional shop setting.
Requirements:
Performs skilled work required to inspect, disassemble, repair, assemble and test all types of automotive services on automobiles, trucks, other vehicles and equipment General knowledge for servicing, diagnosing and repair light and heavy-duty trucks Diagnose and repair to specifications brakes air and hydraulic and suspension systems Perform a road test on vehicles and perform vehicle inspection/courtesy checks Maintains, stocks, and organizes the tools, parts, and equipment carried on the service truck Safely operates the service truck in accordance with all traffic laws and DOT regulations while traveling between job sites Communicates with dispatch and customers regarding arrival times, vehicle condition, and completed repairs Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers as necessitated by the work Must maintain regular attendance and be available and on time for scheduled service calls and travel between locations

Physical Demands:
Exerts 75 to 125 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands), and identifies and distinguishes colors. Occasionally climbs (ascends or descends ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like), balances. Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs and spine), and kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees). Regularly works outdoors and in variable weather conditions while performing on-site and roadside service calls, and may sit or drive for extended periods while traveling between locations in the service truck. Valid Driver's License required, with a clean driving record to operate the company service truck CDL preferred but not required, depending on service truck classification High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Graduate from an automotive or technical school preferred ASE certification preferred but not required Prior experience as a mobile, field, or road service technician a plus
