Job Description

SHOP TECHNICIAN / HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
We are looking to fill a Shop Technician / Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at our heavy equipment shop in Stallings, NC. The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding the grading equipment and dump trucks used in our hauling and site development operations. The Shop Technician reports to the Shop Manager and plays a direct role in keeping equipment available and minimizing downtime. This is an experienced position. Candidates should be able to diagnose and repair equipment with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and dump trucks
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and undercarriage components
  • Rebuild major components and complete heavy repairs in the shop
  • Complete DOT inspections, brake work, and general repairs on dump trucks and trailers
  • Use diagnostic software and equipment to troubleshoot fault codes and system failures
  • Document all work performed, parts used, and hours on work orders
  • Identify needed parts and communicate part requirements to the Shop Manager
  • Follow standardized work processes and complete assigned tasks timely and accurately
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures
Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of hands-on heavy equipment and/or diesel truck repair experience
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Welding and torch experience is preferred
  • Own set of hand tools (specialty tools provided by the company)
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
  • Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and good communication skills
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
