We're looking for a hands-on person who knows their way around trucks and heavy equipment. PTM is looking for a Heavy Equipment & Fleet Technician to help keep our trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, shop, and yard in good working order. You'll be working around excavators, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, service trucks, pickups, trailers, and other construction equipment. You'll perform preventive maintenance, handle minor repairs, keep equipment ready for our crews, keep the shop in order, and coordinate larger repairs when something needs to go to an outside shop. We need someone who is mechanically minded, dependable, takes pride in their work, and can stay busy without someone standing over them. What You'll Be Doing Heavy Equipment Perform preventive maintenance on excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other construction equipment. Grease equipment and perform routine oil, filter, fluid, belt, hose, and general maintenance. Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting. Inspect equipment and identify problems before they turn into major repairs. Keep equipment clean, maintained, and ready to go to work. Help prepare equipment for jobs and make sure it is returned in good condition. Keep detailed service records. Trucks & Fleet Perform preventive maintenance on company trucks and vehicles, including: service trucks (F-250, 350, 550), pickups, Mack Triaxle, Kenworth W900, various trailers, etc. Perform routine inspections, lubrication, fluid/filter changes, and minor repairs. Keep track of when trucks and equipment are due for service/inspections. Identify mechanical problems and communicate when something needs additional attention. Keep detailed service records. Coordination When a truck or piece of equipment needs to go out for a larger repair, you'll help manage the process. Communicate directly with repair shops and equipment dealers. Explain mechanical problems and provide information about the equipment. Get updates on repairs. Coordinate drop-off and pickup. Follow up when repairs are taking longer than expected. Communicate repair needs and estimates with PTM management. Make sure equipment gets back to the shop and is ready to go back to work. Shop, Yard & Materials When you're not working on equipment, there is always something that needs done. You'll help: Keep the shop clean and organized. Organize equipment, tools, parts, and materials. Load and unload deliveries. Receive and put away materials. Keep track of commonly used parts and shop supplies. Order materials and supplies when inventory gets low. Maintain the yard and properties. Weed whack, clean up, move materials, and take care of general shop/yard maintenance. Prepare materials and equipment for upcoming jobs. Keep in touch with crews to see if they need anything that can be prepped. We're Looking for Someone Who... Doesn't need to be told what to do all day. If the excavator needs greased, you grease it. If the truck is due for service, you take care of it. If we're running low on filters or hydraulic oil, you let us know and get them ordered. If the shop is a mess, you clean it up. If a truck is sitting at a repair shop, you call and find out what's going on. If everything is caught up, you find something productive to do. We want someone who takes ownership and treats the company's equipment like it's their own. Qualifications Hands-on mechanical experience with trucks, heavy equipment, construction equipment, farm equipment, or similar. Experience performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs. Good mechanical common sense and troubleshooting ability. Comfortable working independently. Dependable and organized. Good communication skills. Able to communicate professionally with repair shops and equipment dealers. Valid driver's license. Class A CDL is a plus. Ability to safely operate and move company trucks and equipment. Construction, heavy equipment, diesel, trucking, or mechanical experience is a plus. We care about your experience, mechanical ability, work ethic, and willingness to learn.
