We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Automotive Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced diagnostic capabilities and mechanical expertise to service a wide range of passenger vehicles and light trucks. This role requires a professional who can independently troubleshoot complex automotive systems and handle high-volume workflows on all makes and models. Candidates must possess a current, valid Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection License and a PA Emissions Inspection License to perform mandatory state compliance testing.
Key Responsibilities State Inspections :
Perform official Pennsylvania safety and emissions inspections in strict accordance with PennDOT regulations.
Diagnostics :
Utilize advanced scan tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex engine, transmission, electrical, and drivability issues.
Mechanical Repairs :
Execute high-level repairs on major vehicle systems, including engines, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electronic components.
Routine Maintenance :
Conduct preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid flushes, tire balances, and alignments.
Documentation :
Complete precise digital inspection reports, log parts used, and maintain detailed service records for state compliance.
Road Testing :
Test-drive client vehicles before and after repairs to verify proper functionality and ensure safety.
Shop Safety :
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazardous-free work bay according to OSHA guidelines.
Requirements and Qualifications Experience :
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional automotive repair experience in a dealership or independent shop environment.
Licensing :
Active and valid Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection License (Class 1 minimum) and PA Emissions Inspection License.
Driver's License :
Valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license with a clean driving record.
Tools :
Ownership of a comprehensive set of professional hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Certifications :
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are highly preferred but not required.
Physical Ability :
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and operate standard shop machinery.
