DOE Job Summary:
Diagnostics & Troubleshoot and repair company Tractors, Trailers (Tankers, Roll-offs, Dry van, Conestoga), accessories, and components. Preventative Maintenance, system repairs, safety inspections, welding, structural repairs, hydraulic repairs, tire repair & replacement, tarp repairs, & record keeping. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and welding / fabrication equipment. Field service to roadside assistance calls. Key Accountabilities (Essential Functions): Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting-Use Computerized software, scanners and manual testing to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults. 2. Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform routine services, including oil changes, fluid level checks, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts. 3. System Repairs
  • Repair major components such as diesel engines, transmission, steering mechanisms, and braking systems (including air brakes). 4. Safety Inspections
  • Conduct thorough inspection of tires, lights, and structural integrity to ensure vehicles meet safety standards and regulatory requirements. 5. Record Keeping
  • Document all work performed, parts used, and time spent on repair orders for fleet management or billing purposes.
6. Dry van, Conestoga, tanker, roll-off diagnoses and repairs on commercial trailer bodies, electrical systems, brakes, and suspensions to ensure safety compliance. Primary duties include preventative maintenance (PM's), welding, structural repairs, hydraulic repairs, tire repair/replacement, tarp repairs and FHWA inspections to minimize fleet downtime. 7. Field Service
  • Respond to roadside assistance calls to perform emergency repairs on vehicles that have broken down during transport or drop yards.
Rotating after hours service calls. 8. Clean shop and maintain equipment for shop safety. 9. Building and grounds maintenance. The key accountabilities listed in this description represent the essential tasks of the position, but are not all-inclusive. The scope of tasks performed may vary regularly or occasionally, based on changing business requirements, varying staffing levels, other factors. Additional related tasks and miscellaneous duties may be assigned to this position by supervisory personnel as appropriate or necessary.
Assigned Work Region:
Physical presence in assigned workplace of Loudon, TN in shop area.
General Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent, degree or certification in Diesel Technology is a plus.
Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and skills. Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbal). Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn. Trainable and dependable. Welding experience is a plus but will train. Computer knowledge.
Knowledge:
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and welding / fabrication equipment. Has the ability to identify and resolve complex problems based on extensive knowledge.

Understanding of DOT hours of service and transportation regulations.
Experience:
3 year + Experience on tractor / trailer diagnostic and repairs.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50-75 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in awkward positions or outdoor conditions.
Scope of Responsibility:
Follows established procedures and policies, but may use some discretion in identifying, researching, and resolving problems. May prioritize tasks and time, with direction of supervisor. Errors have impact on organizations financial performance.

Communication is continuous and often complex, to resolve non-routine problems, provide direction, negotiate complex transactions, or convey highly specialized information.
