The primary role of the Mechanic position is to maintain rolling stock and equipment with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. The desirable applicant will have a mindset of constant improvement and willingness to go above and beyond.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service.
Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine servicePrepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runsPerforms mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machinesReads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform maintenance and serviceComply with OSHA safety and health rules. Promote safety at all timesHelp train new operatorsKnow, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures Entry level laborer sawmill duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Ensure tools, supplies, and equipment are always in their home locationsMaintain lines of communication with other team membersLearning and applying lean business practicesFill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when neededOther duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills Strong computer, communication, planning, and organization skillsProvide necessary tools for repairEnsure safe work practices & follow safety procedures Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibilityLean techniques and experience preferred Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environmentMust have HS Diploma/GEDMust be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a timeApplicants will be subject to a criminal background check.
