About Tyr Laboratories Tyr Laboratories is a defense technology company in Austin, Texas, with in-house engineering, production, and test. This role builds and tests the electronics at the core of our systems. About the Role The Avionics Technician fabricates, assembles, and tests electronic hardware to written standards, and troubleshoots to root cause. Qualified technicians also support field testing. Responsibilities Fabricate wiring harnesses to workmanship standard, including crimp and solder work Assemble and integrate electronic hardware across common protocols — CAN, I2C, serial/UART, SBUS, and Ethernet/IP. Reverse-engineer and integrate components without a finished schematic Perform bench test and checkout to written procedures Troubleshoot to root cause Maintain ESD discipline and capture clean test data Support field testing as qualified (see below) Field-test support: this role supports field testing — travel up to approximately 30% when scheduled, a motor-vehicle-record check, and a company-paid FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate. Prior flight-test experience is not required. Qualifications Soldering, wiring, and electronics competence Experience with embedded, electromechanical systems — hardware driven by firmware and software. Robotics, drones, RC, automotive/motorsports electronics, embedded or hardware projects, or military/aerospace systems work all apply Fluent reading datasheets, pinouts, and interface documentation Methodical troubleshooting and attention to workmanship No degree or minimum years of experience required — we hire for demonstrated capability Compensation & Schedule $20.20-$36.00 per hour. Full-time or part-time. On-site in North Austin, with field-test travel for qualified technicians.

Pay:
