We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 5 to 7 years of aerospace experience to help design, analyze, test, and certify the system, starting with the Embraer E-175. You'll work on the hardware and its installation, combining SolidWorks design and structural analysis with hands-on testing and troubleshooting. You'll join an early-stage team working with airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and the FAA, and report to the Director of Engineering. What you will do Design components, brackets, mounts, and assemblies for the eTaxi system and its installation on the airframe and main landing gear. Use finite element analysis (FEA), hand calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and structural margins to evaluate stress, structural integrity, and thermal performance. Create SolidWorks 3D models and 2D production drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per
ASME Y14.5.
Design and route hydraulic, coolant, and other fluid lines and electrical harnesses; select fittings and installation hardware. Develop and run pressure, functional, and environmental tests, including
RTCA DO-160
testing. Support rig and aircraft testing, troubleshoot integration issues, and improve designs. Prepare installation procedures, work instructions, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), engineering reports, and traceable, configuration-controlled drawings. Support FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) work, including compliance checklists, test plans, type design data, and coordination with the FAA and its delegated representatives (DERs and ODAs). Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, test, quality, and supplier teams on system integration, design for manufacturing, and first article inspections. Meet applicable safety requirements, 14 CFR Part 25, AS9100, and aerospace standards. What you will bring A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field. 5 to 7 years of aerospace experience in aircraft systems design and analysis. At least 3 years of experience using SolidWorks and 3 years performing FEA. Proficiency in GD&T and the ability to read and create engineering drawings and specifications. Experience integrating aircraft systems, including hydraulic systems, coolant and fluid lines, and electrical cable routing. A strong foundation in mechanical design, materials, and fasteners. Familiarity with installation and testing of aerospace hardware, including pressure vessels and fittings. Availability to work onsite in Dallas / Plano, TX. Qualification as a U.S. Person under ITAR (22 CFR 120.62). Experience that would be a plus At least 1 year supporting FAA STC or Type Certificate (TC) programs, including DER or ODA coordination. Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 and related advisory circulars; familiarity with RTCA DO-160, AS9100, ARP4754A/ARP4761, MIL-STD, or ASME standards. Experience with landing gear, actuation, mechanisms, or electromechanical systems. Experience with aircraft retrofits, aftermarket work, or maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO). Clear communication, practical problem-solving, and comfort taking ownership as priorities evolve in an early-stage company. Compensation and benefits Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus paid time off. How to apply Submit your resume and a brief summary of your aircraft systems design and analysis experience. Include the CAD and FEA tools you use and any FAA certification or DER coordination work you've supported. Green Taxi Aerospace is an equal opportunity employer.
