Immediate opening Start Your Career in Property Maintenance Career Strategies is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join an apartment community in Wasilla as an Apartment Maintenance Technician. This position is ideal for someone with basic hands-on maintenance skills who wants to grow in the property maintenance industry. The successful candidate should be comfortable completing general repairs, using common hand tools, troubleshooting maintenance issues, and working respectfully with residents and coworkers. You will handle a variety of daily maintenance tasks while continuing to develop your skills in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, and apartment turns.
The Work You'll Be Doing:
  • Respond to resident work orders and complete service requests professionally
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance in occupied and vacant apartments
  • Assist with apartment move-outs, unit turns, punch-list items, and make-ready work
  • Complete basic plumbing repairs, such as replacing faucets, toilets, valves, and drains
  • Perform basic electrical tasks, such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, and breakers under proper guidelines
  • Troubleshoot basic HVAC concerns, filters, thermostats, and ventilation issues
  • Repair or replace appliances and identify when a vendor or specialist is needed
  • Complete basic carpentry, drywall, painting, caulking, flooring, and door repairs
  • Assist with preventive maintenance throughout the property
  • Inspect apartments and common areas for safety, cleanliness, and repair needs
  • Help maintain the property's exterior, shared spaces, and overall appearance
  • Communicate with residents, vendors, and property staff regarding maintenance needs
  • Document completed work and follow property procedures and safety standards
Skills and Qualifications:
  • General apartment, residential, or building maintenance
  • Basic plumbing repairs
  • Basic electrical repairs
  • HVAC troubleshooting and filter replacement
  • Appliance repair or installation
  • Drywall repair, painting, and caulking
  • Carpentry, doors, locks, and hardware
  • Unit turns, make-ready work, or punch-list completion
  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Preventive maintenance and general troubleshooting
What We're Looking For:
  • Approximately 1-2 years of maintenance, construction, handyman, facilities, or related experience preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate solutions
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities
  • Professional attitude and strong customer-service skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • Ability to safely lift, bend, climb, stand, and work in different weather conditions
